  Black Diamond Gear

There are certain times in your life when you can't settle for mediocrity. That moment when you find yourself on the face of a mountain is one of them.

That's why Black Diamond exists--to offer some of the highest-quality climbing equipment found anywhere in the world. Founded in 1957, Black Diamond has focused on using the most innovative technology in designing and engineering its climbing equipment.

There are the classics, like Black Diamond's White Gold, the company's classic chalk, tried and true as a reliable partner on a number of well-known descents. White Gold is additive free, providing just the right amount of friction when you need it most. Browse our site to see our line of White Gold among our line of Black Diamond climbing equipment.

Black Diamond Equipment's vice president of design has been known to point out that chalk and shoes directly affect performance. So, while you're checking out our line of Black Diamond chalk, take a moment to look at our line of Black Diamond Momentum climbing shoes, another example of the company's dedication to utilizing the latest technology to make the highest quality climbing equipment.

Years in the making, Black Diamond's shoe design threw out everything that had been done in the past when manufacturing climbing shoes--right down to the material. Where other climbing shoe manufacturers simply die-cut a big sheet of rubber to make their shoes, that's not the Black Diamond way. Instead, Black Diamond controls the rubber, heat, thickness and pressure so that each mold is uniquely designed to fit seamlessly together.

It's that hunger for innovative design that gave birth to the new and redesigned Camalot C4, a 10% lighter version that builds on its original cams. The new modern design takes what climbers loved most about the company's previous line of Camalots and adds new features like a wider trigger that provides easier handling and an innovative trigger.

The same level of commitment to innovation that Black Diamond brings to all its climbing equipment designs is also reflected in the company's commitment to helping ensure a better world. In 2020, Black Diamond pledged a quarter million dollars to improve accessibility to the great outdoors for members of diverse communities. More than a one-time donation, the pledge was meant to spark real change in communities and their relationship with the outdoors, including the creation of a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee. The donation also supports a scholarship program aimed at supporting education and creating initiatives for breaking down barriers to enjoyment of the outdoors.

On a global level, Black Diamond is committed to social and environmental advocacy. That means taking action to protect and preserve recreational lands by ensuring their products, supply chain, process, facilities--even their marketing materials--are sustainable with limited impact on the environment. In addition, the company is an outspoken advocate for not only conservation, but also inclusion, equality and causes related to access.

Now that you have gotten an idea of what Black Diamond is all about as a company, why not check out our line of Black Diamond climbing equipment?
